"I began training at BOE in October 2018. Prior to this - I'd mostly concentrated on running, and other cardio type activities...with a small amount of time on strength exercises. Strength Training always seemed to be a struggle - simply because it involved more planning....and wasn't as easy as throwing on a pair of running shoes & heading out the door. When you have a busy lifestyle, finding the time to figure out a training plan can easily get pushed aside. I was looking for a Strength Training Program and a Meal Plan - that would be unique to "me"....something that took into consideration my goals, and my personal needs.
Having this plan in place has allowed me to train with BOE three times a week - Working with Nate & Steve has made a huge difference!
Thank you!"

"I came to BOE with little to no experience working out. In under 2 months I have seen incredibly obvious improvements to my physique. They teach you how to do each exercise the correct way with extreme detail to maximize your results. Nate and Steve have guided me through every step to achieve my goals. I would recommend BOE to anyone who is looking to start working out."

"I have been training at BOE for 2 years next month. I am in better shape now then I have been for 20 years. I work out 2 mornings per week for 60 minutes each morning. It is a confident booster when you like how your body looks, especially as you age. I want to thank Steve and Nate for their service! I have developed some really nice friendships there as well with the other clients. Do yourself a favor and try ot out!!"

"I’ve been lucky enough to be able to find a gym that works around my very busy travel schedule, and fortunate to have received Steve as my Personal Trainer. I truly couldn’t share enough positive feedback about the challenge, the encouragement, and the overall experience! …the other clients are even amazing! And, although I get to work with Steve every week, I’ve also been able to work with Nate, Bill and Aron – who all are equally as passionate and invested. When I found BOE, I was looking for a Trainer that I could be confident in – one that would direct me in my goal, correct any futile efforts, and ensure my success in my path to a healthy lifestyle. What I actually found were multiple trainers that would not only direct me – but, guide me. Not only correct me – but, teach me. And, not only ensure my success – but, nearly guarantee it with their investment in me. I haven’t just found a really great gym and trainer – I’ve found a lifestyle, thanks to BOE!"

“I recently did something for myself that I am extremely happy about and proud of!
Growing up I played sports but by the time high school ended that was over. Life went on and I did the things everyone else does but I did not incorporate any consistent physical activity or proper diet to my life. By the time I was 32 this was painfully obvious. Overweight and out of shape, I needed to do something. So, I got a gym membership and swore I would eat better and change my life. Even though I wanted that change for myself without the knowledge on what foods I should eat or even exercising properly I was never going to achieve that goal. I thought I exercised correctly and was eating good for the most part but still no results.
I knew I had to do something but what and where to go? I was fortunate that I found Bodies of Empowerment!
Nate and Steve have been so helpful in my approach to living healthier and getting physically fit. I finally find myself in a place that has provided me with the necessary tools to exercise properly and eating right which in turn is producing the results I need and was looking for.
Today I feel great, my energy is up, I feel sharper. The results from a physical stand point are showing as well . This was a decision I’m so glad that I got around making for myself and you should too if you’re looking for these same things in your life.”

"Three years ago, I barely recognized the person I saw in the mirror. I was regularly working 16 hour days, 7 days a week, and it showed. I have struggled with my weight after I quit smoking 23 years ago. The stress of working so many hours, a poor diet, and virtually no exercise, had me seeing numbers on the scale I had never imagined I would see. I felt old, weak and sick, and did I mention OLD?!?!?
I have made a lot of changes in my life since then. I sold my business, so I could work "normal people hours", which greatly reduced my stress. I converted from a life-long meat consumer, to a vegan-leaning, purely vegetarian lifestyle. I found a true passion for hiking. I joined running groups, completed a couple of 5K runs, and started training for a half marathon. I struggle with asthma, and arthritis in my knees and hips, so I could not maintain the running, but it sure did feel great while it lasted!
As luck would have it, the Service Center where I work relocated to Edgewood in January 2017, right next door to Bodies of Empowerment! My life still had complications which did not yet allow me to fully commit the time required to transition back to the Toni I once knew. I talked to Nate early on, took a tour of the facility, but told him that it would be a little while longer before I could sign up - too much going on in my noisy life.
In late October 2017, I was finally ready. I knew I needed the attention and guidance of personal trainers who would work with me, and for me, with all of my unique health issues. BOE did not let me down. During this same time, I began going to physical therapy for old injuries and arthritis issues with my knees, shoulders, hips and right hamstring. Steve and I regularly discuss my PT exercises, and he has incorporated many of them into my routines, and for other members too! After four months of training with Steve, he is very in tune with how I approach a workout and how I strive to get the most out of the workouts he has designed for me. I focus on my form, and try to hone in on the targeted muscles, and if I'm not feeling it, he helps with slight adjustments, or we collaborate on what will work better for me.
I knew I had slimmed down, lost fat, and gained muscle mass, but without seeing the numbers drop on the scale, I was slightly discouraged. After my recent measurements, I was shocked with the numbers! I had not lost any weight, but the transformation in my body is undeniable (losing fat & gaining muscle). My stamina has improved more through this training regime than it had with running. I¹m training for longer hikes in the mountains. And, although I had half-jokingly mentioned the idea last year, I actually believe I CAN hike part of the Pacific Crest Trail someday.
I wasn¹t just ready for a change, I would not have lasted long without a change, and BOE was the catalyst for my transformation. I just turned 52 last weekend. I feel stronger, healthier and happier than I have in many years. Someone just told me that I look younger every time they see me therein lies the proof. I feel better, and it shows!"

"This summer I took a hard look at myself and didn¹t like what I saw. As I got older I gained weight and nothing I did seemed to work long term. I wanted to be healthier and to exercise regularly but I had so many excuses why I didn¹t. It¹s too expensive; I don¹t have the time; I¹m too tired after work; it¹s too hard before work. And then I realized that I couldn¹t wait any longer. No more excuses. I plan to retire in about a year and I want my retirement to be a healthy, happy and active one. I love my workouts at BOE. Nate, Steven and Aaron all bring something different to my sessions, but each has made me see that it is never too late and that I am the only one who can realize my retirement goals. I have been working out since August and I see big changes already. My clothes fit better, I am not so tired at the end of the day and I am actually learning how to live a healthy lifestyle. Thank, you BOE. I am so glad I found you"

"Three years ago my life changed, I literally lost my voice. A cranial surgery left me with severe neurological damage and I lost the ability to properly speak. I lost my career as an RN and I suffered with deep depression. I began gaining weight and my overall health was declining. I knew I had to pick myself up and make a change. I emailed Bodies of Empowerment, and I am so happy that I did! They immediately responded to my request for information and I scheduled my first session. That was 3 months ago and I am proud to say, I am down twenty pounds! They have taught me the importance of proper exercise techniques along with clean eating habits. I am in a great place now. I took control of my health and my overall well-being and I feel great. Thank you Bodies of Empowerment!"

"Since joining Bodies of Empowerment in April I have learned so much. Through training and meal planning I have become more aware of my body and how to best take care of myself. I have issues with my neck and would always have headaches and pain in my shoulders, but since I started training at BoE those issues have become less and less of a problem. I love how my workouts were planned specifically for my problems, and being able to feel the results has allowed me to trust in the process. I am also one of the pickiest eaters out there, yet BOE has been able to find a meal plan that fits me and makes sure I get all of the nutrients that I need. So far this journey has given me strength and confidence, and I am excited to continue working and becoming the best version of myself."

"I wanted to share some thoughts on joining Bodies of Empowerment. I began training this past July. I had some health issues and decided I needed to get in shape and lose some weight. After six months, I can say it was a very good decision on my part. Having a personal trainer has been the catalyst I needed. Your proper guidance and motivation have helped me far exceed the goals I set six months ago. Thank you! I recently attended their event at Kroger where they taught us how to read and understand nutritional labels, and that information also contributed to my meeting and surpassing my goals. I would recommend the program at Bodies of Empowerment to those people who are serious about getting physically fit and losing weight."

"The Bodies of Empowerment staff has provided every expectation, knowledge and determination I was looking for and then some for my personal training needs. I couldn’t be happier with the decision I made to join BOE back in JUNE 2016. It’s only been about 8 months and I have seen incredible results. I’ve lost 20 pounds of fat and gained 13 pounds of muscle. It’s a whole new me! I had no idea what an impact these changes would reflect in ME for the positive drive I was embracing for. The trainers get to know you personally. They truly care about what it is your seeking and what you want to achieve in results. Putting together personal work out plans with each session and having an extensive amount of knowledge in what they provide! My workout sometimes switches a bit with each trainer. This makes it fun and exciting! I have learned many new techniques, exercises, and training skills that I never had experienced before. They also help you understand nutritional requirements that work best for your daily lifestyle. They continually strive toward giving the utmost expertise and interest in my wellbeing. This is how they treat each and every one of their clients! I have also made some good friends at the facility- We support each other, giving each other encouragement and motivation. I can walk into training from a bad day and feel good again quickly. Whether it’s a smile from the trainer or another client or just simply that upbeat positive energy. I always walk away feeling better! I am much stronger, confident and determined- Physically and Mentally! The quest for less body fat, more muscle, and better fitness continues with the support of BOE and I’ve made it my lifestyle and I am so happy that I did! I haven’t felt this healthy and good for years and its changed my life. Thank you for all your support BOE- You guys are the best!"

"During a very stressful time in my life, the weight would not come off and I had no desire to exercise. One day I decided I had had enough and needed to focus on "me". During my search for a personal trainer I found BOE's website. I took a chance and met with Nate. I liked what I heard and decided to try it out. My journey has not been easy (only because of my self-doubts), but I am so proud of the progress I have made and will continue to make. My trainer Steve is wonderful. He keeps me motivated and gives me the feedback and encouragement that I sometimes do not give myself. For a woman who did not enjoy working out, my progress is attributed to the knowledge and encouragement of Steve and Nate. BOE is so much more than just a place to work out. They truly care about you and it feels like family. I love the classes and retreats they offer. Not only has it changed my life and health, but I have made some pretty awesome friendships! ""I have been with BOE for about 2 months and it has been an amazing experience. I have trained with Steve and Aaron, and they both have been awesome! They are wonderful trainers, they know what they are doing, and they are enthusiastic. I wouldn't want it any other way. These last 2 months have improved my mood; by having different/new workouts, two awesome trainers that keep me going and an awesome owner who has also kept me motivated. They all encourage me to keep going, they challenge me, the workouts are tough, but its just right; it's what I need. I don't want or need easy, but these guys make sure I get everything I came here for. I feel amazing after each workout and I feel like I have accomplished what was set out for me. I have been in the fitness world for a few years and my favorite, but first thing Nate told his trainers was; "Don't make it easy for her, she has been doing this for awhile." They keep it real, but they keep me going. My other favorite thing, would be if something looks easy, Aaron and Steve are quick to change it to something harder! Nate hears the run downs of my workouts from Steve/Aaron and it makes me feel good when he comes back to me with positive reinforcement. BOE has helped me with great workouts and my mood has improved tremendously. The atmosphere is amazing, Nate/Steve/Aaron all come back with remarks of encouragament, kind words, and I am surrounded by awesome people (Clients included.) Nate, Steve, and Aaron have been a positive light in my life and I'm truly grateful for the chance to have been included in their clientele. Thank you for every single thing you men do for the lives of others! It truly is a blessing and much appreciated."

"Over the past couple of years, I have struggled with trying to lose weight. I tried all the crazy fad diets, all the work out at home for 30 minutes a day types of exercise programs, and nothing seemed to be helping, I kept seeing my weight increase. That was until last September, I learned that I have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and then it all started to make sense. All the symptoms that I was having like excessive weight gain and fatigue were all related to this syndrome. I had two choices, to sit and do nothing and just keep gaining more weight, or get up and do something about it. I made the choice to get up and do something about it. That's when I found Bodies of Empowerment. Almost immediately after I filled out my contact information on their website, Nate called me to come in for my consultation. I was really nervous for my first visit because I didn't know what to expect, I was nervous that I would feel judged and uncomfortable, but in fact, it was the complete opposite of that. Nate made me feel 100% comfortable and welcomed. Bodies of Empowerment isn't like your typical gym with personal trainers. They really care about their client's health and well-being, and they take the extra step to help you reach your goals. Signing up to train at BOE was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has changed my life for the better, and I couldn't be more thankful for Nate, and my trainer Steve. Steve is absolutely wonderful to work with, he takes the extra time to help you understand each and every workout. His knowledge and understanding about fitness and nutrition are top notch! After only six weeks of hard work, dedication, the guidance of the BOE program, and my trainer, I have lost a total of 16lbs! I feel a lot happier, healthier, and confident. I know if I can do it, anybody can. I'm glad I made the choice!"

"Hello my name is Kris Waldespuhl and I would like to share a story about me and give a testimonial about why I think BOE is the best place to be, to motivate YOU to not only lose weight, but also teach you how to live a more healthy lifestyle.
This past Christmas my father became ill. His diabetes was starting to really affect his health and his way of life. My father was a very active individual, playing professional golf for 40+years, riding motorcycles, and just being active, but his life style of not eating very healthy and not exercising was costing his health to deteriorate and we wound putting my father in a nursing home. I am only mentioning this, because I was following his same path and this was my destiny.
I told myself then, back in January that I will not end up like my father. I will fight with everything I have to make sure I learn about proper nutrition, exercise, eating healthy as a LIFESTYLE and not just to lose weight, but gain the knowledge that will help me sustain healthy living. If I don’t want to end up like my father. Then something will HAVE TO CHANGE. ME!
With that said, back in January after my doctor’s exam, I weighed about 278lbs. This was ridiculous! I became motivated to lose weight, and to make sure I changed what and how I was living. So, one day I received a call from Steve Nagle from BOE. It was almost like someone from above was listening to what I was needing and what I needed to do. I was very happy when Steve called. I knew that Steve and Nate could and would help me reach my goals of being and staying healthy. To date I weigh 252lbs and still losing. By years end I am hoping that will be down to 200lbs. This is an obtainable goal that I will meet and with the help of Nate and Steve and their motivation and holding me accountable I will get there.
The trainers at BOE are very motivated to help you reach your goals and to teach you how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This was very important to me. They have a positive approach on training that makes you want to work hard. Their philosophy on fitness and nutrition is absolutely AWSOME! Their expertise and knowledge on dieting and knowing what foods will help your body burn more fat, calories, and staying healthy is second to none. They are at the top of their game when it comes to making a change to a healthy lifestyle. They have encouraged me and motivated me to work hard to lose this weight. I know that BOE will do the same for others, just as they have done for me.
I would like to thank Nate McConnell and Steve Nagle for making my journey to weight loss and to a healthy lifestyle more obtainable. Thanks Guys!"
Sincerely, Kris Waldespuhl

“I have struggled with my weight, healthy eating and exercise since I was 10. I have had success and failures with weight loss, but achieving a healthy weight and changing bad habits has been tremendously difficult. A recent shoulder injury and recently healed broken wrist and elbow has made my attempts to get physically fit on my own impossible. Since I have started at BOE, I feel I have more control and now have instruction that include workouts and nutritional plans to guide me. I am taught proper techniques to become stronger and to not re-injure myself. I am also challenged more with the workouts, much more than I would have ever challenged myself on my own. The support I have gotten from Nate and my fellow workout partners has been truly inspiring. I feel stronger, physically, than I have in years. It is slow, steady progress and it’s me competing against my own personal best. I no longer have the "fear of the unknown" that I had before I started at BOE. " A couple years ago I was in a motorcycle accident in which I shattered my elbow and have gone through three surgeries to get it back to a usable state. I came to Bodies of Empowerment for a couple reasons. First. I needed to gain that muscle that has been lost in my left arm from all the surgeries and I wanted to make sure I was doing that the correct way. Second it has been quite a few years since I focused on me and my health. They have helped me in my eating habits making me focus on my nutrition. At Bodies of Empowerment the trainer explained what foods I could eat and when to eat them to get the best results. I have never felt better or stronger and I will be 40 in few short weeks. The trainers also make sure your form is proper. I have spent my entire life doing some of these simple exercises wrong. I am now stronger than I was in my twenties. Bodies of Empowerment has definitely been a turning point in my nutrition and fitness adventure. "

" I've been coming to BOE now for about 6 months. Before that, I belonged to a gym for years, and had personal trainers. I can honestly say that BOE is the best training experience I've ever had. The facility is clean and organized, and you feel comfortable from the very start. But what makes BOE a step above the competition is the attention to detail. There's a lot of attention you your form during the workout, attention to health issues, and attention to your goals. Also, the routines are regularly changed, so boredom doesn't set in. So, after these 6 months, I can say that I'm very pleased with the results, and I would recommend BOE to friends. Thanks! "

"
Becoming a client of BOE this past May was about the best thing for me physically. Due to arthritis I had developed an imbalance of strength between my right and left side. Muscle tone had diminished. After working with Nate and Matt these past few months, strength in my legs and core is greatly improved so that my gait is sure and muscle tone is improving. Walking is now pain free and a pleasure.
As I train each time I can count on being challenged in a way that is safe, individualized, and that gets results.

"
I came to Bodies of Empowerment in January 2013 looking for a way to make fitness part of my everyday routine. I grew up dancing and hadn't been able to find anything to fill that void. Working in medicine I saw every day the effect of poor lifestyle choices on health, and knew I had to start good (better) habits early.
I was initially intimidated by the idea of weight training, something I hadn't done very much of, and worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up. But it didn't take long to realize that trainers were experienced in working with all levels and abilities. I love the tailored routines that challenge me within reason - I've learned so much about weight and resistance training, and I'm never bored thanks to the creativity each trainer brings. I've also learned a lot about nutrition, and made changes that are sustainable (and don't prohibit everything fun).
In addition to being a fitter and healthier person, I'm also a happier one. I've met so many great people through BOE, from trainers to other clients. The accountability and camaraderie is a huge benefit of the group training format and something I really enjoy.
Thanks for everything BOE!

" After some serious problems with my back I decided that it was time to be proactive and try to lose some weight and strengthen my back. I lost 22 pounds on my own but was soon at a standstill with minimal relief from back pain. So, I conducted an online search for personal trainers and discovered Bodies of Empowerment. I have been coming for about 6 weeks and have lost an additional 6 pounds and feel MUCH stronger! I am really enjoying all of the encouragement as well as the attention to detail when it comes to the trainers' focus on proper technique. Not only are they enthusiastic, their focus on proper form and safety is incredibly helpful! I've worked out off and on throughout the years, but have discovered that my technique was a far cry from correct. This could be part of the reason for the back problems! Thanks to Matt and Bodies of Empowerment, I have started a new chapter in the book of life! I'm now looking forward to the remaining chapters! Thanks BOE!!! "

After many years of “trying” to exercise on my own, and not getting the results I wanted, I finally came to the conclusion that I would not be able to do this on my own. I wanted to be stronger and healthier but always seemed to quit when it got too hard or I would be good for a month and then stop. Knowing I didn’t want to join a franchise gym, I started researching personal training –and I found Bodies of Empowerment. I definitely liked that it was convenient to my work and home, but more than that, I liked the bios of the trainers. The experience and knowledge they all had is what made me want to come and try it out. And I am glad that I did… everyone was so welcoming and nice and not only have I been pushed harder and longer than I thought was possible, but I am also held accountable. This has really helped in making me a better, healthier person. Changing yourself is a slow process but seeing those small changes as they come, has definitely been worth every minute of the “pain” ☺ I’m put through at each work out! I look forward to the months to come and seeing even more changes - thanks to Matt, Aaron and Nate for making sure I get there!"

"I decided late in 2013 that I was tired of being unhealthy, overweight and weak. I was tired of hearing doctors say morbid obesity causes this and that. I had tried so many diets, Weight Watchers, Atkins, etc. They all worked for the short term, then I would go right back to where I started. I needed to try something different. I thought, “Why not hire a personal trainer.” I figured it was out of my reach, that only rich people could do that. So just for the heck of it, I decided to browse the Internet for personal trainers in the Northern Kentucky area. When I found the Bodies of Empowerment website, there were no prices listed, so I filled out the online form briefly stating what I thought I needed and asking if they could help. I received an email from Nate asking me to set up an appointment to come in and talk to him. I was hesitant because I didn’t want to feel “forced” into something I couldn’t afford. I didn’t feel forced at all. I am now training 2 days a week at the facility and I love it. I wish I would have done this so much earlier in life, but “better late than never.” I weighed myself daily, setting myself up for failure (scales don’t show the whole picture). My first monthly evaluation showed remarkable results and I am down 1 clothes size in just 1 month. I can’t wait to get to a healthy point in my life where I don’t need so many medications and I can do things without worrying about whether I’m going to “fit” into a particular space. I owe it to my hard work and determination, but also to the staff at Bodies of Empowerment. It is the best investment I have ever made!"

"My experience at Bodies of Empowerment has been life-changing . When I started 6 months ago, I was heavier than I’d ever been in my life, had low self-esteem, and was always tired and unmotivated to get up and get moving. I have tried diets and exercise plans in the past that were moderately successful for a while, but I would always hit a wall and stop making progress or have a bad week and just give up.
But with their program and unending support and encouragement, I’ve finally found a program that works for me. I have consistently lost weight every month since August. I’m learning new ways of cooking and preparing food in ways that fit the plan while still producing flavorful and satisfying results; plus I’m trying new vegetables and liking them! When I’m true to the plan, I’m rarely hungry or craving something I “can’t” have. The cheat meal saves me every week! With the strength training and cardio workouts, I’m seeing my body change and feel more confident about my appearance. Plus, any time I’m struggling, Nate and Matt are there with words of encouragement and advice for overcoming the challenges. I look forward to my workouts each week.
The improvements in my health and body image have impacted all areas of my life. I’m more confident in my job, feel better prepared to complete the volunteer work I do, and am welcoming more people into my circle of friends. So it really has been life-changing. I’m a new person – happier and healthier – and I owe it to Bodies of Empowerment!"

“As Client of the month. I would like to get a different type of message out to people. We all know how great it is working out. At B.O.E. the entire team is extremely knowledgeable in this field. I have been working out with B.O.E. for over 1.5 years. The first year I had limited results due to personal injuries. I was not the best at following the nutrition plans. As great as the team is at designing workout plans for each of us those plans are only as good as how serious we pursue the end result. I began to work the program fully approximately 5 months ago. I followed the nutrition plan and workout as hard as my body will allow. At this time I have lost over 20 lbs and feel great about my health. I have so much more energy it is amazing. So my message is that your results are completely up to you. Please look inside yourself for that drive that is there to follow the designed plan with 110% effort. Trust me, there is no excuse that you can think of that I have not already used myself for not working out. Sincerely an "X-Excuse" expert”

“Bodies of empowerment has helped me tremendously. I feel more energized and my diet has been greatly improved. I always ate my vegetables, but there was something missing. As soon as I got my nutritional consultation, Nate pointed out my lack of protein. However, I was worried this might turn into a diet. As he continued, I learned that I could splurge occasionally and still continue to gain muscle. "Being on a diet isn't healthy Nate explained,"but living a healthy lifestyle is."
My legs were incredibly weak when I first began, now I can leg press more than 3 times my body weight! Working out has allowed me to gain more confidence, and it turned out to be super-fun! At my first session, I learned that I was already skinny, however, I was incredibly weak. I learned how to punch, and kick, but that wasn't all. More strength training followed and I continued to gain muscle. My friends always laugh when I say I'm going to the gym. They say that I'm already skinny and that I don't need to exercise. But when I'm 70 years old, still lifting a considerable weight, and can live on my own, I'll be the one laughing.”

“2013 had been an awful year for me. My oldest son was t-boned in a car accident, my father passed away, we totaled our vehicle coming home from vacation with my youngest son in the car, breaking my wrist in two places, and my middle son completely tore his ACL needing surgery; all this occurred in a six month period. Receiving the results of my annual blood work just felt like a pile-on. My doctor said, get fit, or start on several medications. Feeling sorry for myself and tired of feeling like a victim, I typed “personal training” into Google, and BOE popped near the top of my search engine results. Was I ready to make a commitment to this? No, but I could fill out a web form to request more information.
I filled in my name, and email, and my husband’s phone number, in case I changed my mind and didn’t want to be bugged.
I received a response a couple of days later:
“Hello Diana, I wanted to follow up with you regarding your interest in our services. We have been unable to reach you by phone or leave a voicemail [Just as I planned!] I sent an email earlier this week [which I ignored] Please let us know what days and times are best for you to meet [I’m on the fence still] We look forward to speaking with you soon! Thanks! [A little too perky for this cynic] Nate McConnell, owner, Bodies of Empowerment “Get the body you’ve always dreamed of!” [So they are miracle workers?]”
Well, I signed up and my life has changed in just eight short weeks. My biggest challenge wasn’t physical, it was fighting me mentally, to commit to change and take this on. I looked for outs at every turn and wanted to quit so many times. The support and encouragement I received from the trainers was and continues to be invaluable to my success story. I can reach out as needed when I need advice on party strategy, or discontent after a difficult training session. I always receive a response with encouragement, and a different viewpoint, and this helps to put things in perspective. The physical part is challenging too, but I also receive encouragement from both the other members and trainers, which has helped tremendously. The second time I attended a training session; I had a terrible anxiety attack, and wanted to leave. A member said something to me I carried with me for a long time, “At least you showed up.” Another time, I was cutting a corner, and not doing an exercise to my full potential, my work out buddy, Lori, called me out and said “Hey that looks too easy!” She was right, I was only cheating myself. Nutrition is part of the package too. I am not on a diet, I am being taught to make different choices, and change my metabolism. It’s all working too!
So this cynic is down one size, can climb the steps behind Krohn Conservatory, stand and kneel in church without aide, and sit through a football game on bleachers without tiring. These are all new to me, and I plan on doing more; dancing at the Mom Prom in January (my son is really excited about that one!), making it up bear hill at the zoo, and walking on the beach in June, and receive better results at my next physical. Short term goals, confidence and the tools to get there are what BOE has given me. All of these add up to build on the long term goals of better health and wellness. Thanks BOE and my BOE buddies! I share this honor with you guys! "

“Like many of my friends here at Bodies of Empowerment (BOE), I drove down Dudley Road daily with that yellow “personal trainer” sign screaming my name. I won’t share with you just how long I ignored that sign but suffice it to say that I finally called and I’ve grown to love the sign and coming to Bodies of Empowerment every week!
For years, I lead a very sedentary life that started when I broke my foot. This sedentary life quickly spun out of control to the point that excess weight made it hard to bend over, walk up stairs, daily fatigue & malaise, and shopping for clothes was miserable. Frankly, I was miserable!
After checking out the BOE website and reading testimonials I decided to send an email to “just inquire” about BOE’s program. I shared that taking the first step in a journey can be the hardest step to take but I was ready to make the change. I’ll share the BOE encouraging response that told me I WAS picking the right place……“You are right about that! It is difficult to take that step and get help. I am glad that you are reaching out and ready to improve your health and your life. My experience is that many times the motivation to change doesn’t come first, as we think it ought to. It often comes AFTER we first resolve to change. You will gain momentum with each week and the desire to work out and eat healthy will take care of itself.”
I love my time coming to BOE and working out. I’ve learned so much including “technique is everything” and I’m enjoying the results that I’m seeing. I’m addicted to eating correctly, walking 10,000 steps every day, and working out at BOE. Because I took the first step and joined BOE, I feel absolutely amazing and I’m proud to share that I have dropped 3 sizes in clothing.
The first step is the hardest but once you commit and join BOE, the motivation does grow stronger and you do gain momentum each week to work out and take care of yourself! So take that first step, you’re definitely worth it and I promise you too will love being here!
Thanks BOE and Nate- you’re the best!”

“I had spent the last decade going from on one yo-yo dieting spree to another. Always losing a good amount of weight and then seeming to gain it back plus an additional five to ten pounds. In April, before starting at Bodies of Empowerment I was the widest I’ve ever been barely fitting into my size 42 jeans and just feeling lethargic all the time. Worst of all my appetite was out of control. It didn’t matter what I ate as I was always hungry. The nutrition session and monthly evaluations have really helped me to learn not only what foods to eat but the right combination of foods during each meal to stave off the hunger pains and feel full longer. I really appreciate that all the trainers stress getting the proper technique down for each exercise. I have really noticed that the workouts have really started to improve my pace and endurance during my runs for the half marathon I'm training for this fall. If you have ever seen me working out you'll know why I picked the quote below.”

“My parents signed me up for this training program at Bodies of Empowerment. At first I didn’t think it would help and I was really hesitant because I didn’t want to put in the work. I saw improvements in my basketball after the first couple weeks. It has helped my basketball and endurance tremendously. It helped my post play a lot. It was easier for me to maintain my position. It also helped my quickness and agility. If there was a loose ball I would always be the first to get it. I also found out that you have to eat healthier. This was the hardest part for me because I’m used to being able to eat whatever I want because of my weight. The more I tried though the easier it got. I also like the way the trainers work with me. They help me get the form down on all of my workouts. They also make the workouts based on what I need. Its hard work but is very rewarding and actually fun.“

“My journey with Bodies of Empowerment started a little over a year ago. My husband & I decided that we needed to make changes to our lifestyle and part of that was to get fit. Our fear was that we would not be able to enjoy life together as we got older because of unhealthy habits. We discovered BOE and by far that has been one of the best decisions we have made. For me it is all about how I feel and I feel GREAT! I feel strong. I feel energized. I am more educated on the proper ways to exercise and with nutrition. The instruction and workout program designed just for me is awesome. I am so thankful for the support that I receive from everyone at BOE always helping me to push myself a little farther even when I don't think I can do it. Every week I discover a wonderful by product of working out and getting stronger even if it is as small as doing yard work with no aches and pains. I love working out and look forward every week to my next session. BOE has truly changed my life!“

“In April of 2012, I was at my heaviest weight, 284 pounds. I felt tired all the time and I did not like what I saw when I looked in the mirror, I knew it was time to make a change. I had to do it for my daughter and for myself. I started cutting my calories and walking a lot. I lost 30 pounds by July of 2012 and knew I needed more guidance, that is why I joined Bodies of Empowerment. Josh has been my trainer since I started and he has taught me so much about exercising and nutrition. Josh has shown me a variety of strength training exercises that I can do at home and encourages me to work harder. Now it's 11 months later and I still enjoy my weekly workouts at Bodies of Empowerment. I am down to 160 pounds, with a total weight loss of 124 pounds, I own much of my success to Josh for all of his help. I thank God I decided to check out Bodies of Empowerment, it has made me a more healthy and stronger person."

“In early December of 2012, my trip to the doctor revealed that my cholesterol was 246 with my LDL causing most of the problem at 158. My doctor said to do something to lower those numbers or meds would be prescribed. I’m in my 50’s and my weight has been creeping up yearly. My energy level was also not where I’d like it to be. Less than a week later, I enrolled at Bodies of Empowerment. Throughout the week I faithfully did the cardio and weight training sessions and the at-home workouts. I saidfaithfully…I didn’t say eagerly. It was explained to me that if I just made substitutions to my diet and choose foods carefully that my body would make better use of what I ate, I would stop the weight gain process and my cholesterol would come down. I was slow to implement these changes, but about one month later I became more aware of sugars, proteins and carbs...and the shakes were actually quite tasty. I’m still learning.
After 412 months, I hesitantly went back for more lab work. Unbelievable!!! Not just lower, but 75 points lower! And the evil LDL was now 97, which is now in the “normal” range. My energy level has certainly increased and I’m buying clothes a size smaller too. I’ve been sharing my news with anyone who will listen. Someone commented to me, “Now that you’ve reached your goal…now what?” I haven’t even considered going back to old ways. I consider myself still on this journey. It’s been very satisfying.”

“After years of playing sports, I became coach. Since starting to coaching baseball and golf, I found myself getting complacent in my own activity, so I took action! Since working with BOE, I have found my center, my active spirit again. I am learning more than I have ever done before. Being 42 and on the edge of sculpting my body into the best shape of my life. I am extremely proud to have taken this step to my personal development. I have met some wonderful people since coming to BOE…and with the ‘Laughing Trainer’ standing by my side my future health and body looks extremely bright. Thanks!

In May 2012 my doctor recommended I see a nutritionist for my Crohn¹s disease. For many years I had tried a lot of different medications and treatments but rarely felt good. Instead of seeking out a nutritionist I decided to start working out and trying to eat healthy on my own. I have always been tall and thin but my eating habits were horrible which made things worse and very difficult. I began working out on my own and started feeling good but still wasn¹t sure how to eat. A friend recommended Nate and bodies of empowerment so I decided to give it a try. I¹ve been working with Nate since December 2012 and since that time my eating habits have completely changed. I now eat a variety of fruits and vegetables and have been able to stick to the diet. The results that I¹ve seen have been tremendous and I¹ve felt great for over 7 months now. I still need to put on some weight but my body fat percentage is going down and I am getting much stronger.

Since I have been working with the excellent staff at BOE, I have progressively been feeling better about myself physically and mentally. I had been putting my work and other responsibilities ahead of my own health. Now, it really feels good to be doing something for myself ! I have less hip pain, better sleep, more energy, better posture and less belly!!
My goal is to continue strengthening my core muscles so that as I age, I will not become debilitated, weak, and develop chronic pain as I have seen so many women do. Focusing on quality of foods, trying to eat more proteins, less carbs and using the protein shakes for mid morning and mid afternoon hunger has really helped me stay on track with diet. I do cheat sometimes though but, hey, we are human! I just try to get right back on track.

When I started working out with BOE in August I was incredibly weak, tired, overweight and stressed out. My posture had deteriorated to the point that I was bending forward from the waist when I walked. Friends noticed that I was doing that and asked if I was okay. Apparently not. I felt as though I was folding in on myself.
In the beginning they talked to me about nutrition and gave me some menu guidelines. I'm pretty hard-headed so I didn't exactly leave that day thinking I was going to follow the plan. What I was really thinking was that I didn't want to go on a diet. I thought I already ate well and that if I exercised, I would shape up. As it turns out, I like the plan. I like the foods I am eating, and I like eating less but more often. It makes me feel good. My stomach doesn't bother me like it used to, my energy level has skyrocketed, and I have lost 23 lbs!
The workouts have changed my body. I feel more balanced and a whole lot stronger. I can carry the laundry basket without any trouble now. It was that bad. I catch myself walking straight up, and that makes me feel so much younger. I still slump sometimes, but now it hurts when I do instead of being the position that feels the best.
I attended the four classes that they gave on nutrition and found them to be very informative. Then I participated in the Fat Loss Accountability Group which was an eight-week program that just ended. It was a lifesaver during the holidays! We had weekly check-ins where we wrote our food diaries and our weight for the week into e-mails. This kept us from having a food free-for-all with all the holiday goodies. Nate, Josh and Michelle gave menu ideas, nutrition facts and, along with the other participants, offered their support and encouragement.
Bodies of Empowerment has been more than physical training for me. It is nice to be able to get so much from one place, and I am grateful to all the trainers. I know I will keep getting better with their help!

Before joining BOE I always struggled with my weight, I was dieting , but the weight was coming off slow. I always had a cycle of losing and gaining it right back because I didn't know just what to do. I joined BOE in July 2012 and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I was kind of anxious when I first started because I didn't know what to expect but that feeling soon went away as I got into my first training session. Not one time have I ever felt judged when I walked into BOE and that means so much to me. Josh is a great trainer who is well educated. He has taught me so much and put the "pieces of the puzzle" together for me to continue on my journey of weight loss. I have lost 81 pounds so far and dropped 8 pant sizes. I wouldn't be able to do this without Josh, I am forever grateful. He has helped me find my confidence again and most important, added years to my life. Thank you Bodies of Empowerment!

I joined BOE in September, and since then, I have gained strength and confidence as well as losing pounds and inches. They provide me with personalized routines and make sure that the exercises are done right by helping you understand what muscles to focus on. I have also learned how important my nutrition is. I have seen a huge change in how I feel physically and mentally after starting this program. I have also been sleeping better and have lowered my blood pressure as a result of eating better and exercising.

I am 58 years old and have been overweight for the past 14 years. I have tried different diets but to no avail and in all cases the end result was more weight than my starting point. This resulted in an all time high of 303 lbs. I was at a point where my energy level was so low that I looked forward to staying home and resting instead of being active. Thus a vicious cycle of more rest causing less energy requiring more rest. I had lost 30 lbs on my own 2 years ago down to 270 lbs but after awhile once again I was on my upward climb. This time I met Nate and began a regimented program on July 15th 2012. He prepared a nutritional plan as well as a exercise plan to begin a life style change not a diet. Since then I have lost 20 lbs and between 4-6 inches around the waist. The subtle benefits are unreal, I sleep better, I have more mental alertness, I have more energy, and I have a better general state of well being. All this in two months, talk about instant gratification! I can’t wait to see the changes in the next two months. That makes it fun! All this would not be possible without Nate’s help. His program incorporates nutrition and physical fitness together to ensure success. Nate is not only a personal trainer, he is a life style coach, a problem solver and believe me someone I now consider a friend. I say this because he sincerely cares about his clients and their successes because we are a direct accomplishment to him. Once again thanks Nate!

I started my journey of having a Personal Health Trainer with Nate McConnell in May of 2012. Although I have had a health club membership in a local facility since 2006, I have never achieved the results that I desired until working with him the last 4 months. I have lost 20 lbs., improved my core strength, built muscle strength in my chest, arms and legs and lowered my blood pressure. I feel so much better and have received many compliments on my new appearance. I have found Nate to not only have the competence of being an excellent Personal Trainer and Nutritional Coach but also a person of character and encouragement

I have been working with Nate since March of this year. During this short time my body has been changing and I am now actually seeing that. In the past five years it had been difficult for me to see that with any type of consistency. It actually became defeating at times and I would lose my motivation to exercise consistently and regularly. I am now weight training four days a week and have been inspired to take Muay Thai instruction and I’m looking at additional instruction for Mixed Martial Arts. I have learned so much detail about each and every exercise and how important the focus and consistency is for my body. Before I started training with Nate I was eating healthy, but not right. I didn’t realize how scientific the right diet needed to be. I’ve been losing about half a pound of body fat each week and replacing it with muscle. I still have a ways to go to meet some of my goals, but I am very pleased with the results in such a short period of time. It’s definitely been a game changer for me as it relates to my body and my day to day life!”

I started training a few months ago. My 50th birthday was approaching fast and menopause was leaving me with the dreaded "menopause middle". I have always felt very young at heart, but my body wasn't following my heart! Since I started working out with Katie a few months ago, I have more energy, feel stronger, balance is better, and am starting to see and feel results. Katie pushes me, [which I need!], but never makes me feel ridiculous when I have trouble doing an exercise. I have no coordination! I have found that now I am craving exercise in between my sessions. Before, I had great intentions of working out but always seemed to find something else more important to get done. I hope to acquire a lifelong habit of exercise from this experience.

I started going to Bodies of Empowerment the end of my sophomore year of High School. I was unhappy with the way I felt and looked. So I decided to try personal training with Nate at BOE. Within the first year I started seeing huge results, I went from no exercise to exercising twice a week. In the first year I had lost 20 lbs, by the second year I was down 35 lbs. I got to the point where my body weight was staying the same; I wasn’t able to lose anymore. With the help of Nate this past couple of months I’ve been able to turn my nutrition around, and learn how to exercise on my own. Now I work out twice a week with Nate but I also workout on my own time. My total weight loss from training with Nate is 44 lbs; I’m always amazed to realize I’ve lost that much weight. If it wasn’t for Nate I wouldn’t have lost that much, not only am I happy now but I’m healthy and in the weight range I should be in. I’m still working hard towards a leaner body but with the help of Nate any weight goal is reachable and possible.

I had always struggled with my weight, but after college my weight completely ballooned out of control. I managed to lose some of it by myself, but had hit a wall and was in danger of gaining it all back. That is when I decided I had to make one of two choices: personal trainer or surgical intervention. Having known people who had bariatric surgery I knew that one must still make a lifestyle change. Knowing this fact, I began researching area trainers and happened upon BOE’s website. They sounded like they had a plan, even for people like me. After meeting with my trainer I knew BOE was the right place for me. Since beginning my training at BOE I have lost inches and pounds. I have also been able to accomplish my goal of running a 5K which is something I hadn’t done in almost 10 years. Thanks to BOE I am able to now run every day and enjoy a much more active life.

I have had many gym memberships in the past and I got what I paid for but this time I tried something different and I have really felt the change! After a shoulder surgery last year, I needed to get back to a place of health wise where I felt better. In enlisting Katie’s expertise I have attained goals in 2 months here than may have taken over a year at a gym. This has been a great experience and will continue to be as healthy as I can get! I heard of Bodies of Empowerment from a friend who was training with Nate. After several years of no exercise, weight gain, and muscle loss I decided to bite the bullet and call Nate. It’s a call I have never regretted. I have many degenerative issues in my neck and back due to natural aging and two auto accidents both resulting in whiplash and back injuries. I started training with Nate in September 2011 with the following goals in mind, weight loss, loose fat, better posture, increased energy and strength. Nate advised and encouraged me to incorporate a better diet into my everyday life. At this point I have lost twenty-one pounds, feel stronger and have more energy. What has impressed me most about Nate is his knowledge of anatomy and physiology. If during any particular exercise pain is felt Nate will immediately stop and start over doing the exercise a different way with the same results. When I feel like a slug or whine and say I can’t do it, Nate has a way of finding a way that enables me to do it. Nate is definitely on my gratitude list for the immense difference in the way I feel. When you’re in better shape you just feel better about everything. Thank you Nate!

I started working out with Katie a year ago with three goals, to lose 50 pounds, to run the Bourbon Chase (200 mile over night relay), and to be able to wear my engagement and wedding rings. I have accomplished two of the goals and am close to reaching the third of losing 50 pounds. Losing weight and reaching my goals has helped me be more confident in myself. I have joined a gym and take group classes which is something I would have never done a year ago. I have run several 5Ks and 10Ks and the Bourbon Chase. I joined a running training group and will be running the Mini Heart 15K and the Flying Pig Half Marathon in the coming months. I now continue to set goals for myself to help keep me motivated. I know with my new confidence I will be able to accomplish anything I set my mind to.

I am so happy I started working out at Bodies of Empowerment. I look forward to the 2 sessions a week working out; the half hour goes by so quick. The nutrition plan they recommended is great I lost 20 lbs. in 2 months, unlike other diets, I never felt starved on my nutrition plan, and feel confident I can continue to lose weight and gain muscle strength. Before I came to Bodies of Empowerment, I was really struggling, about a year ago I had knee surgery and my leg muscles got weak from not exercising, it was getting difficult getting up out of a chair. The rigorous workouts have changed that, leg strength is back, and my weight is down, I’m happy.

After doing zero exercise in over 10 years, I saw the Bodies of Empowerment sign for personal training on Dudley Road and decided to drag my lazy butt through the door. The fact that I have an appointment to work out is critical for me because it forces me to go when I would otherwise justify doing something else. Working with Nicole has been great - she pushes me harder than I would ever push myself, but the one on one training allows her to have first hand knowledge of what my limits are. She is also very good at teaching me how to exercise correctly to insure that I'm getting the maximum benefit, rather than just going through the motions. I had no idea that technique was so important before.
In addition to the exercise component, the nutrition counseling that Nicole has provided has been extremely beneficial. It took me a couple of weeks to really embrace the change in my diet, but since doing so I have found it to be very easy to stick with. I eat far less than I did before, but I am never hungry.
I've lost 20 lbs to date, but as I have gained muscle and lost fat my clothes fit like I've lost far more than that. I'm committed for the long haul and look forward to breaking the 200 lb threshold for the first time in 10 years.

I have always been interested in trying personal training but did not know where to start. Having some old sports related injuries and arthritis, I had some pretty tough criteria for a personal trainer to meet. My cousin, Mark, and friend, Kim, had recommended their trainer, Nate, as my go-to guy. Some of the best advice ever!
Nate has met,and exceeded, my expectations of a great personal trainer. Being a Registered Nurse, I admire and respect his keen knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and nutrition. He worked with me to develop a plan of action suited to my individual needs. He is patient and explains things in ways that are easy to understand. He is also a great motivator, and has pushed me to not only achieve my goals, but to exceed them. Under his guidance I have increased my physical strength, muscle definition, lowered my body fat and increased body muscle. I have been injury free, and the arthritis pain in my neck has actually gone away. In other words, not only does my body look and feel better, my overall health is better too!

This past October, I stood at the finish line at the Bourbon Chase Relay Race with my 3 girls, waiting for my husband’s team to finish. As I waited, I thought; “This looks fun. Too bad I will never be able to do this!” Several months later, I was still thinking about it, longing to be able to run it. I knew if I wanted to run, I had to change my life. I am a stay-at-home mother of 3 beautiful girls (ages 4. 3 and 1). Like many mothers, I didn’t take the time to take care of myself. I was terribly out of shape and overweight. I was extremely unhappy with the person I saw in the mirror. I finally made the decision to do something for me! I started working out with Katie at the beginning of February and started running (well...walking/jogging). Katie has given me the tools I need to eat healthy through nutrition counseling and the motivation to change my life! Thanks to her and the support of my wonderful husband, I have lost 10% of my body fat, ran two 5K’s and I am currently training to run my first 10K in July. I am excited to say that I WILL be running the Bourbon Chase this October with my husband!

The only thing I can say is Thank-you to Nate and Nicole! Over the past few years I’ve done the Adkins diet off and on, losing a few pounds then putting it right back on. So, I thought I’d give Bodies of Empowerment a try – and I’m glad that I did. I’ve already learned so much about nutrition and how to push myself physically when all I want to do is give up. Since starting my training with Nate and Nicole in March, I’ve already lost several pounds of fat and gained muscle, and can’t wait until I can see my abs for the first time in my life! My posture has also improved and I no longer have back pain. With the guidance and encouragement that I get at Bodies of Empowerment, I’m sure that the goals I have for my body will be achieved!

I took aerobic classes for many years. Between that and walking, I had no problem keeping my weight off, as long as I didn’t miss too many of my six weekly classes. When I turned 50, however, things started turning ugly for me. Step classes and walking no longer kept off the pounds, and I saw myself going from size 4 to 6 to 8 to 10 to 12. When I could no longer fit comfortably in a size 12, I reached my breaking point and decided to do something to reverse the trend. By this time, I was age 62 and hoping it wasn’t too late. I did an internet search for a trainer/nutritionist, not knowing if it was really necessary for me to take such a drastic measure. I found BOE, and after interviewing with Katie, my doubts about whether or not I needed this degree of help evaporated. I realized I didn’t have a clue where to start on my own and would have gone right back to walking and taking step classes. Katie started out educating me on what I should be eating to eliminate body fat and replace it with muscle. This was a challenge for me at first because it went against everything I learned back in the 70’s and 80’s and because I also just didn’t like fresh fruits and vegetables (not the good kind anyway). But, the more I got into it and the more I learned, I really started liking the new way of eating. I learned that I actually do like fresh vegetables; I just don’t like them cooked. I now only eat raw vegetables and have the complete set of Kristen Suzanne’s Eating Raw cookbooks. Katie then put me through three 30-minute resistance/strength building sessions a week which seemed like 2-hour sessions to me at first. I couldn’t believe how I was huffing and puffing and groaning in agony. It was embarrassing, so I’m glad not too many people had to witness that. I was shocked to learn how much of an aerobic workout you actually get from resistance and strength training. As tortured as I am during class, I feel really great afterwards. At the end of the 1st month, I had lost no pounds and only 1.2% body fat. That was really discouraging, but Katie reminded me that it took many years to reach my current situation, so I shouldn’t expect to see a reversal of the situation within a month. So, I kept going, working as hard on the diet part of the equation as the exercise part. At the end of the second month, I started seeing a lot of progress. I was building more muscle, and, like Katie promised, my metabolism started kicking in. Now at the end of 3-months, I’m fitting comfortably in size 8 and well on my way to getting rid of that last bit of muffin top that still stands on my waist. Thanks, Katie!!!

I started training with Nate at Bodies of Empowerment to get stronger because I have osteoporosis and I cannot take the prescription medications available because of the side effects. Being older it was important to train with a professional who would be able to instruct me on how to do weight bearing/resistance properly. I had noticed a remarkable difference in my endurance within the first month. As time has gone on I have noticed myself getting so much stronger and less tired. I can also see muscle definition come back again and that was so exciting. Strong muscles are important in balancing out the not so strong bones.
After working hard all day and sometimes just getting back from traveling, the last thing I want to do is go to boot camp but I force myself and am always glad that I did. The challenge and benefits of the workout has become a life style change for me and I’m glad for it.

About 6 weeks ago, I was challenged to run 3 miles. Not very far right ! Well I couldn’t make it the whole way without stopping and walking for a while. However, the second time I tried the run, 3 days later , I noticed my legs were fine. I made it the whole way and never walked. It excited me. My leg training , doing Dead lifts, Squats and Leg presses had given me an unbelievable amount of stamina. Wow, what I didn’t know I had. Amazing Energy with quick recovery times. Over the last 6 weeks , I started going farther and farther, completing 10 miles in one run last week. I entered the Flying Pig Half Marathon per Nate’s encouragement. Unbelievably, I completed it (13.1) miles and was first in my age group. Normally, I only weight train and run sprints but I’m a living example of the additional value weight training and bodybuilding provides. I’ve been religious over the last 3 weeks on my diet and supplements and have dropped a bunch of body fat. Looking Good. You can do it too ! Thanks Nate!

I had been working out with Nate from Bodies of Empowerment for some time but had really gotten away from proper dieting during my wife's pregnancy and after the birth of our daughter, causing me to gain over 30 pounds. So starting the beginning of this year, and with Nate's guidance, I rededicated myself to proper nutrition, modified my workouts to accommodate fewer calories, and lost the weight in under 3 months. Thanks Nate and Bodies of Empowerment!

I know the only way to control family genetics was by eating right and working out, but what does that all mean. A friend told me about Bodies of Empowerment and their focus on nutrition and exercise. I decided to try it out because I needed help in the area of nutrition. It is hard to really know what is fact and what is fiction. Nate has educated me on the correct way to combine my nutrition with exercise. I continue to work out several days a week with Bodies of Empowerment because now I really understand how important the two work together.
Thanks Bodies of Empowerment!

I began working out with Katie 12 weeks ago because I wanted a lifestyle change. I wanted to create healthy eating & exercise habits that would continue for the rest of my life. I have started many work out programs and even joined 3 different gyms over the years but those never lasted more than a couple weeks. Working out with Katie is like working out with a friend who has the knowledge to show me the proper way to get a full body workout. I have been able to stick to the work out routines and actually look forward to learning new moves. Healthy diet habits are new to me because I have spent many years eating fast food. I am slowly learning and incorporating healthy foods into my daily diet. Katie is helping me take small steps to make a big change in my life. Currently I have lost 11 pounds of body fat and I am looking forward to losing more and continuing to improve my diet.

I have been watching my diet because I have high triglycerides, but the results were leveling off. I didn't want to take any medication. I hike regularly but I couldn't get down to my intented triglyceride level until I went to Bodies of Empowerment. Having a personal trainer keeps me on course for nutrition and exercise. Now I have more energy and flexibilty resulting in more activity which has lowered my cholesterol and triglyceride numbers.

I have been on what seems like a lifelong journey to stay fit and healthy. I met Nate through a mutual friend about 7 years ago. Nate would become a driving force in making my decision to reach my goal. I learned what discipline and consistency and hard work would mean when comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Nate help me reach my goal. The results the first time were awesome! Unfortunately I let the hard work go by the wayside. I would relapse into my old habits. But Nate never gave up on me, he continued to keep in touch and encouraged me to set some short-term goals. As I continue to make small steps in reaching my lifelong goal of staying fit, I now see the results are paying off in a big way!

When I began training with Katie, my body was a mess. I was coming out of a severe Vitamin D deficiency that went on for 2 ∏ years. I was extremely unenergetic and had lost a lot of strength. I knew I needed to exercise, but I couldn't make myself do it. The one time I did try, the trainer from a different gym was unsympathetic about my level of fitness and some other conditions I had that caused me pain. Thankfully, not all trainers are created equally. Katie listened and came up with an exercise regimen that I can do without causing lingering pain but still challenges me. We both can tell I'm getting stronger, and I'm starting to see small improvements in my body shape. I'm grateful to her for getting me through my slump, and I'm looking forward to an "after" picture of myself.

I had always been active in sports throughout high school and college, becoming an avid runner at 28. My 6’2 frame maintained a steady weight of 160 lbs for years. I ran 12 marathons, including Boston. Then, in 1998 I began having health problems and running ceased. I had a liver transplant in 2003, shutting down all forms of exercise and ballooned to a weight I am embarrassed to share. I turned 60 this year and decided that I was tired of looking and feeling totally out of shape! I couldn’t discipline myself to do anything about it though, so I decided to look for a personal trainer. This is when I discovered Bodies of Empowerment. I told Nate that in all the years that I had exercised, I never picked up a weight, so I didn’t know what to expect. He told me that if I listen to him I would lose 1-2 lbs of fat per week. I told him to sign me up! I have now been training with Katie at Bodies of Empowerment ever since (12 weeks), and have lost 15 lbs and more importantly, 5% body fat! I feel stronger, clothes fit better and most importantly, my wife loves the results! I couldn’t have achieved these results without the guidance and encouragement from Katie. Thanks for making an old dog feel like a young pup again! Doug

Over the past few years I have been recognizing the risk that my weak wellness habits and my genetics provide me as it relates to diabetes and high blood pressure. Knowing full well what the side effects of long term medication are and reflecting on our culture's willingness to rely on drugs to sustain "health" rather that to sustain health through prevention, I challenged myself as I approached my fiftieth year to build up my strength to run a 5 K. Just two weeks before my fiftieth birthday I was able to complete that run, and just a few months after I managed a 10 K run. Certainly I celebrated that achievement but at the same time I noted that, while I continued my running routine, I was not getting stronger. Now past fifty I became worried that I no longer knew how to exercise my body in the way that it needed. Feeling frustrated I sought out a personal training with the goal to find a professional trainer that would do much more than supervise an "adult gym class". Through a recommendation of a coworker I found Nate. Over the past few months working with Nate I have been very appreciative of the honor and respect he provides me and the process as I challenge myself to a point of exertion I have never before experienced. His attention to detail ensures I approach our time together in the most productive way possible and his patience with me motivates me to try harder during the next session. After a few months I feel greater energy with everything I do, supported with a stronger physical and emotional balance. My journey of discovery of how to exercise my body and to teach it strength is far from done, but the path I have been on thus far has been completely fascinating and very empowering. Thank you Nate! - Karen

I have spent my whole life struggling with eating disorders and poor outlook on exercise. I started working out in 2002 and met with a personal trainer and dietician. I was on the right track until life threw me several curve balls. I totally fell off the fitness wagon. I let myself slip back into my old life pattern of eating junk food to heal emotional wounds and being lazy. This way of living unfortunately lasted many years. I tried many times to get back on track with short lived success. With lack of self-esteem and zero motivation I was in trouble. Finally I found out Katie was training at the studio and I immediately got in with her for a consultation. I was so excited to have a trainer who understands me and was looking forward to helping me reach my goals. After my nutrition consultation and body composition I was so pumped to go full steam ahead to my goal. I am in my 5th week of training and down 3 pants sizes and immeasurable self-esteem. I have so much more confidence in myself and feel so strong. I love training with Katie!!!!!

I am turning 48 this year; six months ago this would have depressed me, not now. With the help and guidance of Nate I can honestly say I look and feel better than I have in 20 years. I have worked with other trainers who I thought had me on the right path. I WAS WRONG! Nate has been the only trainer who actually takes the time to explain (in a way I can understand) what each exercise is all about. It’s not just about lifting the weight; it’s how you lift it, along with the science behind the movement to get the maximum benefit. Last but not least Nate is there for every rep. combine all that with Nate’s expert nutrition plan, the only way you can fail is you.
